Optical Illusion
Miao Batik is a Chinese traditional handcraft, and it is listed as one of the China's Intangible Cultural Heritage. The Miao people use wax to draw on a homespun, and dye it with a specific blue dye obtained from indigo plants. The subject is mainly about nature and geometric patterns. Also, I notice that most patterns of Miao Batik are composed symmetrically. Therefore, in this project, I extracted some patterns from Miao Batic and created a symmetric pattern out of them.

Experimental Clock
In ancient China, incense was used as a timekeeper. An incense stick burns out indicates that 5 minutes have passed. Nowadays, we will still say "before the incense is burnt", which means "in 5 minutes". In this project, I reproduced the incense timekeeper. The incense stick slowly burns, and it takes 5 minutes for it to completely burns out. And the color pallet will change according to the time of day.
